SABA's Jackrabbit Trail System was the site for a joint SABA, Woodstock, Gainesville, and RAMBO SORBA ride Nov 7th on a sunny Saturday. All 15+ miles of trails, never more than a stone's throw from the beautiful Lake Chatuge, were fast and fun. Perfect for single speeding and just plain enjoying the day. http://www.roswellgov.com/index.aspx?NID=510 Bent Creek MTB 09 Weekend Ride Report

Aug 11, 09 - Emil - Lots of good weather with only a mild spritzing early Saturday evening dominated our latest gathering in the NC Pisgah Forrest. About 18 of us tackled the glorious Greens Lick (GL) downhill after miles of heart-pounding climbing. Rode everything in between GL and the local camp ground trails in spectacular North Carolina scenery and on beautiful single and double track trails, with a few gravel access roads thrown in. July, '09 first-ever RAMBO brochures rolled off the presses and into the RAMBO info kit to be handed out to satisfy curious minds. Bundles were packed into POP literature racks for display at favorite bike shops within our club's sphere of influence. Titled "SO... you want to learn more about your local Mountain Biking Community..." the club information brochure provides a handy reference for what we're about, what we do, member benefits, and important links. Sure, the brochure-ware info is all right here in the website, but the piece was designed for all those who are G3 challenged and still want instant gratification at a trailhead where a RAMBO tent is setup, or are standing at a local retail shop counter. Tell your friends who wonder what the MTB community in our area is all about. Click the image to download. Enjoy! Another fine Group Ride - Tanasi 11 July 09

07-13-09 - filed by Emil - Last Saturday went like clockwork with RAMBO event coordinator czar, Joe, leading our logistics. I think we had about 20 riders who either: met us at the Big Creek Car Pool Dispatch Station; hooked up with MTBers further North, or met us at the beautiful Tanasi Whitewater Park. On the trails at 10:45 we split into A & B groups, with a further split up of the B as the day progressed.
This was my first experience with Tanasi, and I'm kicking myself for ignoring this legendary trail system. All climbs were handsomely rewarded with unrivaled, free-flowing singletrack. Advice: no matter how fun, be on your guard for the odd surprise when bombing the downhills. The trail system lends itself to riders of all skill levels and stamina, allowing folks to spend as much or as little time huffin and puffin before heading back to base.
Minus Chef Brad, we nevertheless had a full complement of Sandwich choices, fruit and drink for lunch. See some of the shots in our gallery. To those with images you'd still like to share, email me at advertise at ejwassoc.com with a link if they're posted, or to add them to our RAMBO galley.
RAMBO socks!!
RAMBO has new product! SOCKS!!!!, Two styles are available in a limited production run. We will have the Blue "RAMBO" sock and the black/red "Freeride" sock. Big thanks to Brad Mettee from DeFeet company for helping us with the order. The socks will be sold for low, low cost of $6 per pair, this means you can buy 1 of each style for the amount you would typically get a single pair. RAMBO intent it to get our Brand/logo out there and see it on the trail and also be able to offer a great deal. Below are links to what the socks will look like, note that the FR sock will be 4" cuff instead of 5", the FR guys siad their armor would cover up the sweet FR logo and they wanted to be able to display the logo instead of it being covered up! Now that is some Pride! chech em out and get 'em while they last, they will not last long. You can get your official RAMBO/FR socks at chapter meetings, work parties or any official rambo event or ride. Otherwise, just contact us thru the email contacts on this website. RAMBO FATS Camp Ride Weekend gamble a win for all

15-17 May 09 -- Emil -- FATS SC trails did not disappoint some 35+ MTBers who gambled weather would hold for our Spring getaway this year. Seemingly endless Group and email messages among volunteers and attendees beforehand paid off in an almost flawlessly planned weekend. Folks in carpools and equipment SUVs began arriving at the Petersburg Georgia Corps of Engineers campground on J. Strom Thurmond Lakesite Friday afternoon. 3 official RAMBO sites handled about 10 folks each. These are large sites right on the lake and limited only by the maximum number of vehicles permitted for each (4). Chattanooga Chapter (yes, folks all the way from TN joined in) and the Grieco's reserved their own sites.

16 April 09 - Wow! Quite a day and turnout for our 3rd annual Big Creek Time Trials mountain bike event last Saturday. This was our first ever Big Creek time trial that included Cross country, Slalom and Downhill runs culminating with the crowning of an overall King & Queen of Big Creek. Expectations were mixed after a rain re-schedule from 28 March. Overcast skies and cooler temperatures were no problem for what surely was a record-breaking crowd at Big Creek April 11th. Intermittent rain served to add a nice tack to the trails ridden by some 118 Time Trial entrants. Everyone had a great time...

RAMBO BigCreek FreeRide is now a special part of the RAMBO MTB community. We welcome all area freeriders with this message from RAMBO FreeRide board member Chris Warren... Freeriding is a state of mind... a passion for discovering one's limits, and then pushing those limits to take you to new heights (literally!). Freeriding can free you, at least for a while, from whatever balls you up during the day.
Watch for Big Creek DH Work Party notices, Freeride news, gravity issues to be addressed here while we reformat the RAMBO Site to accommodate our own Freeride section. Visit the RAMBO Gallery where we'll post Big Creek Freeride pix. Use the RAMBO site contact form to voice your concerns, questions and comments. We welcome your involvement! In the interim, if you haven't done so already, sign up to receive fresh RAMBO Freeride News (see right column).
